OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONY

Each class begins and ends with ceremony. The meditations are not Transcendental Meditation or any other exotic experience. At the beginning, it is time to simply clear your thoughts and mentally prepare for class so that you can devote 100% of your attention to your instructor. At the end of class, it is time to reflect on what you have learned and what you need to practice. Here are the commands for opening and closing.

  • Charyot -- Come to attention
  • Koo Kee Ye Ta Hey -- Face the flags
  • Kyong Ye -- Bow
  • Parol -- Return to attention
  • An Jou -- Kneel
  • Moon Yum -- Meditate
  • Parol -- Return to attention
  • Sabum -- Instructor
  • Kyong Ye -- Bow
  • Esah -- Class is finished
  • Comopsameda -- Thank you very much
