Thank you for entrusting the MSY
program with the honor of teaching Taekwon-do to your child. We
take this honor very seriously and take great pride in teaching
Taekwon-do to the younger generations in our community.
We do not teach a strict Eastern philosophy but we do instruct
the students in proper etiquette and expect the student to show
proper respect for their instructors, fellow students and their
community.
We will teach the students and require them to memorize the
student oath, the tenets of Taekwon-do and their respective
pattern histories all of which are deeply rooted in Korean
philosophies and the history of the Korean peninsula.
We have experienced over the years that children whom study
Taekwon-do two hours a week starting at age five are able to
concentrate on tasks for extended periods of time. The children
typically have a high sense of self confidence which helps the
child to tackle life's challenges. The children typically have
usable social skills and can communicate well with peers as well
as adults.
We hope that your experience with the MSY program and your
child's are both enjoyable and challenging both physically as
well as mentally.
Parents are also encouraged to study Taekwon-do along side their
child. It helps the child if the parent can practice at home and
the child typically looks to the parent as a role model. What
better way to bond with your child than to both tackle the
challenge of learning Taekwon-do together?
A note on the requirements of being an instructor. Instructors
at the MSY program are required to be CPR certified as well as
proficient in the teaching of Taekwon-do as judged by the senior
instructors of the MSY program. Many of the instructors at the
MSY program provide their valuable instruction skills as
volunteers, still others are paid for their expertise. Make no
mistake about the quality of instruction. Every instructor at MSY
is a dedicated martial artist with a deep desire to pass this art
down to whomever is motivated to learn it.
Instructors creed: Be the eternal teacher who teaches with
the body when young, with words when old, and by moral precept
even after death.
Thank you very much for your time,
Sincerely, The MSY Staff
