Maum Sin Yong Taekwon-do

I would like to take a moment and introduce you to the Maum Sin Yong Taekwon-do program. Maum Sin Yong Taekwon-do started in 1989 with one school and 30 students. Since that time we have grown into 12 schools in hosted in several Colorado cities and an affiliate in London England.

Our philosophy is that Taekwon-do is a hard style Martial Art that can be studied by all whom pursue it. Being that as it may we have children starting at five years of age all the way to folks entering their golden years who study Taekwon-do through the MSY program. All that is asked of any student is their best effort and our commitment as instructors to the student is a patient teaching of Taekwon-do. The student will be pushed but our instructors will always allow the student to set the ultimate pace.

What will a student learn while studying Taekwon-do at MSY?
The student will learn the basics of correct stances, generation of power using correct body coordination, overall body control and better hand-eye coordination.
The student will learn the basics of hand and foot fighting and will learn to focus their attack and defense techniques so their opponents and themselves will not get hurt.
The student will also learn the benefits of discipline and respect for peers and superiors.

What is expected from the students?
The student is expected to observe the tenets of Taekwon-do.
The student is expected to show up and be ready for class at the prescribed time.
The student is expected to focus on learning Taekwon-do and to pay attention during the class.
The student is expected to acquire the correct training equipment.
- Male students will need a mouth guard, protective pads and a groin cup.
- Female students will need a mouth guard and protective pads and a groin cup is suggested but not required.
The student is expected to assist in instructing other students as requested.
The student is encouraged to ask question how ever simple they may seem. Taekwon-do is not an easy art to learn, so ask away, it makes us feel better to answer. If we don't know the answer you can expect us to research and find the correct answer
The student is encouraged to practice Taekwon-do on their own at home and with friends. Two hours a week is probably not enough to gain the proficiency to allow a student to achieve the rank of Black Belt.
